Update...

Between vertigo, Lincoln's feeds and a very busy mind, I got little sleep last night.  In fact, at 3am I got up to go pee and a few minutes later realized I had started cleaning the bathroom - which is what I do when I'm pissed off or stressed out.  I promptly sent myself back to bed.

Anyways, Lincoln does indeed have another UTI.  We are heading to the hospital this afternoon for a renal u/s.  When the results are in from that we will be headed to BC Childrens Hospital for more tests and possible surgery.  The doctor suspects he is having problems with the valves between his bladder and his kidneys so that when his bladder constricts to make him pee, some urine is being shot back up into his kidneys.

We are also being referred to a pediatric urologist.

Possibly the scariest part of it all?  My BIL is coming to babysit Ruby this afternoon while I take Lincoln for tests.

Desperate times...

Oh crap, this is so awful, I'm so sorry.

I'm betting he'll be fine in the end, maybe they can even just use meds to control it for now. But it is scary. Thinking of you!

my daughter was born with this same issue, and depending on the severity of the urinary reflux, he may not need surgery at all. She did have a brief hospital stay, but that was only because she was 6 weeks old, only 9 pounds, and the bacteria had already spread through her blood stream. She was on daily antibiotics as a prophelactic (sp?) to keep the UTIs at bay and she did this until she was 2. It sounds terrible, but she gre out of it, and now, at age 5 1/2, has never had a repeat UTI. They grade the refulx on a scale of 1-5; 1 and 2 are most common and kids grow out of it almost 99% of the time. grade 3 needs to be watched more closely, but rarely needs surgery, and grades 4 and 5 are more serious and often require surgerical intervention, but no need to worry- he will be ok. From someone who has been through it, trust me. Everything will be ok. <3 to you and Lincoln

Ugh. Sounds like you are not getting any of the breaks I am wishing the Universe would send your way. What the hell is up with that?

Seriously, I wish things would ease up for you. You are in my thoughts often - I'm reading but just not getting much computer time these days, so am quieter than I want to be in the comments. But know that I'm just one of many who are holding you in my thoughts as you work through everything you are going through with Lincoln and with your own health.

I am SO sorry you are still dealing with the vertigo and having to add going to a pediatric urologist to the mix. Ugh.
Wish I could hug you. Thinking of you!
